Direct Air

Starting to get very concerned with the health of Direct Air right now. It could be a very long summer. My bet is that we will see more flights cut by Direct Air over the summer.. Lets just hope they make it through the summer.

Maybe they should do like the City Council and cut their workload by 75% during the summer. This is, after all, a college town. So many people take the whole summer off, it looks like a ghost town.

I've flown on Direct 4 times this past winter to both Sanford and Punta Gorda. Even though my place is in St Pete, it's still a far better experience than either Logan or Prov. I, too, hope they make it as I'm holding 4 more tix for next fall & winter.

Quick glance at the data - for January - Virgin America reported loads are under 50% at ORH. I really hope those numbers have picked up since then.

You can purchase flight insurance in case of cancellations, room&board, car rentals

anonymous (steve I think).. if it was under 50% for January--that is not good at all.

I don't think Direct air or the city of Worcester are doing a good job advertising the service. A lot people own a place in Florida or just fly regularly there, but they don't even know the service exists, so they go to Prov or Logan.
Also anybody or any airline ever thought about flying to a place like NY where you can connect to fly anywhere??

PanAm, Allegiant and now DA had/have flights from Worcester-FL that have failed/are failing, so why do the folks at Worcester Airport insist that we have service to FL.? I don't know what American Eagles flight loads were like to Chicago, but maybe Worcester should see westbound flights.

Why doesn't Worcester try to service such destination's as it use to have back in the late 80's early 90's? I know, the whole 9/11 thing right?

I looked at something on youtube just a little while ago, and two people on there were questioning why they saw Virgin America landing at Worcester Airport. That goes to tell you that many people STILL don't know that Worcester has an airline! As I mentioned on another blog, I use to hear V.A. on radio commercials when they first started up service, now nothing! I attended a Boston Bruin's game back in JAN., and they even had a small promo going for D.A.. I guess one good thing this week, is that Thurs. flight is sold out!

We flew Direct in May to Sanford. They changed our flight and never notified us; found out when I called two days before to reserve seats. Reserved seats were a waste, they told us the flight was ovebooked so we did not get the seats we paid for.

We flew again in July, schedule changed again; Virgin America is no longer under contract so no more planes with TVs or radios. No notification of this until we arrived and saw a different plane. The employees in charge of boarding (not security) at the Worcester Airport were rude and unaccommadating both in May and July.

I will travel to Logan or TF Green in the future where they are experienced professionals.
