This is a joke. Why should WPI give the city a dime when the city labor costs are so out of control that it's pitiable.
And Palmieri (a.k.a. Sno Shovel Phil) standing there like a pompous a++. (f.k.a. Shopping cart Phil)
I figure an average of 360,000 doesnt even cover the cost of the real estate the city basically handed to WPI when they closed part of West St in the mid 80's with WPI ending up with basically exclusive use of it.
And after NObama gets done printing trillions of dollars and its related inflationary effects, it's going take $360,000 just to buy a snow shovel come 2020.
This also assumes WPI will even be around in 25 years. If I told you in 1980 that Digital equipment would cease to exist by the turn of the century they'd have run me out of town on a rail like I was a heretic. Ditto's for Worcester Center.
I wonder what unspoken deals ( wink, wink, nod,nod) have been struck behind the scenes with WPI for their future expansion plans. After all it aint called Institute Park for nothing.
BTW all WPI has to put away now to pay the the city on average 360,000 for the next 25 years is about $2M to $2.5M right now
So they cough up the $2M today and they;re done with Pilot headaches for 25 years. Nice way to get off the hook for next 25 years.
Can we please get some pilots up the airport, too

Now I am not a news reporter.......but what is glaringly absent from this T&G piece are details of how the $2.2B amt. is arrived at.
How much of it is Gub'mint money and how much of it is private money. How much business property vs residential? Back out City Sq and how much do we have?
Dare I ask, City square assumedly is part of teh $2.2b and is apparently under development per the T&G and city administration. Julie, please define "under development". Guess I should take a ride downtown today....seems I missed something when i was last there in late April jockeying for one of 9 out of 42 parking spaces available at city hall for the customers of the city. 23% of the parking spaces available for the customers of City Hall. Unreal. Inmates (employees) running the parking lot allocationss? Where's our Board of directors & manager on this issue?
