For the record, Jennifer Egan was great. Not only does she have to do the interview but she does all the camera work. The whole spot is done by a crew of one, Jennifer. I tried to plug the JetBlue codesharing arrangement with Cape Air, but it did not make the cut, and how it should come to Worcester like it has in:
- Hyannis
- P-town
- Martha's Vineyard
- Nantucket
What completely confused me about the interview was Dick Kennedy saying "Direct Air has the ability and is willing to grown into other cities??" Simply put they do not. We are going to have to just worry about keeping Direct Air flying into Sanford and Punta Gorda, never mind adding new cities. Maybe if we are lucky we get Myrtle Beach back in March. Sorry, but an airline like Allegiant now that it has turned public and has the capital can expand into other cities. Not Direct Air.
Maybe the most telling part of the interview was Ed Warneck saying that "some flights have had 8-12 person per flight and that they have lost a few million dollars." Direct Air can not lose a few more millions and if we don't have better loads in the fall, they will be done at ORH.

LOL!!! You have to love Bill talking about Direct Air while he has Allegiant's flight map on his pc !!! The last time I saw such shameless promotion was Gerry Brown's run for president when he kept plugging his 1-800-426-1112 number back in the 1992 Presidential primaries !!!
You crack me up, Bill !!!

Years ago there was talk of building an airport in New Bedford or Middleboro to take the pressure off of Logan. Now is the time for Massport to bring this important resource up to full capacity. Or, is there still political fear of Worcester taking business away from Boston? Shouldn't be, especially since the old Mayor is now so well positioned.
Some ideas:
Weekly flights to Puerto Rico
Daily flights to Baltimore
Extention of an existing Direct Air flight to include Platsburg/Montreal
Bangor just lost service to Boston, could the excellent hospitals draw from this population and provide a link to this area?
Vegas? - always a winner
Southwest can't be a welcome neighbor in Boston Logan. Could their future expansion in the Boston Market originate out of Worcester?
Robert Kraft would like to build a new soccer stadium. He knows how to get access roads built and the business his operation generated would move from TF Green. Not to mention Hotels etc.
The economy may be stressed now, but preparing for the better part of the business cycle begins now.
"Or, is there still political fear of Worcester taking business away from Boston?"
>>only in Worcester would the above question be asked!
"Weekly flights to Puerto Rico"
>>how about one direct to Juarez, Mexico also
"Daily flights to Baltimore"
>>Gabe is your best friend for suggesting this
"Extention of an existing Direct Air flight to include Platsburg/Montreal"
>>just the other day I heard 10 folks at the Bean Countah talking about going to Plattsburgh
"Bangor just lost service to Boston, could the excellent hospitals draw from this population and provide a link to this area?"
>>>and then Bangor for their hearing aide
"Vegas? - always a winner"
>>you know anyone who ever won there?
"Southwest can't be a welcome neighbor in Boston Logan. Could their future expansion in the Boston Market originate out of Worcester?"
>>I hear SW officials get invited to all of the tea parties in East Boston & Winthrop
"Robert Kraft would like to build a new soccer stadium. He knows how to get access roads built and the business his operation generated would move from TF Green. Not to mention Hotels etc."
>>Somerville will wrap this deal up very soon...no road needed and while WooTown talks about this stuff Somerville is getting it done!
Joking aside....good thoughts mate...Senor Jahn and myself have been harping on this for a few years now...none of this is happening until the demographics in this Metropolis start reversing towards a working, educated & civic minded community of folks!!!
Harry:
If you play the spot backwards, it says "Silly Bloggers" over and over again.

The Mass Supreme Judicial Court just announced their decision in Town Fair Tires v Department of Revenue.
The DOR wanted Town Fair Tires in NH to collect sales tax from Massachusetts residents.
The SJC told the DOR to get stuffed.
It's over for Direct Air. This is just the beginning of the end. Airlines that come to Worcester simply don't fly often enough and are limited in their destinations. Even if I wanted to go to Orlando (i think they fly there), I only have a few flights to choose from. Many people would just rather go to Logan or TF Green for the choice of more flights. Furthermore, they go to 2 cities now. There just aren't enough destinations to make it work. I'm usually positive about happenings in Worcester but when it comes to the airport i just have to call it as i see it. It's not going to work. How many times have we been down this road? we know what happens. Direct air leaves. 2-3 years with no service. Then another airline comes in for 2-3 years and loses money. Then they leave, etc. etc.
Once massport takes over, everything will change.
