Here I go agian............$183,000 per unit of taxpayers money to rehab apts in teh absolute worst rental area in the city.

I believe the are appealing to the State to allow them to rent the remaining units. You see the original grant specified home ownership.
If you rent the units then you have to pay the grant back. They need to get permission from the state to rent and then they will not have to pay back the grant.
In the end these will all be rent to "low income tenants".

the City of Worcester has lost real opportunity giving these oldah buildings up to no-income housing...this is classic WooTown..either tear down or give away!

These buildings should be cornerstones of gentrificaion and instead they are being turned into magnets for more no-incomer's..it is a disgrace!

Optimism......David, surely you jest???........the city has been technically bankrupt (unfunded pension & health care obligations for 55 yr. old plus retirees).......for decades and it keeps gets worse every year...............
I am not drinking any of his Koolaid nor should anyone else and that includes me also not drinking Nobama Juice and Deval-Ade.
A year ago I was posting on here how bad the city finances were and how much worse they would become going forward. Now I'll tell you Fiscal Year ended 2011 will be even worse. We are planning for fiscal year ended 2010 right now.
I dont see how the city can move ahead when manager has to spend such an inordinate amt of time with finances/budgeting.
Call me Negative Jahn if you like.....some will call me realistic.......and wher'e s our city council as the City of 7 Hills burns finacially........grabbing 88% pay raises....WTH........!!!!! As someone else wouuld say........I cant make this stuff up.......
