City Council meeting tomorrow night should have some interesting info on transportation cuts (including Direct Air) and item 9.11 accepting a grant for the airport. If I understand correctly Massport is deducting grants from the sale price. This could be a heated issue.
I also liked the interview with the President of Direct Air in the T7G yesterday. Direct questions were asked and he gave direct answers. No BS.
MassPort wants to deduct any monies that they have give to ORG since 1999. Let me explain.
The Telegram says MassPort has given ORH 9 million since 1999. Now lets say we agree on a price of 10 million. MassPort will take a credit of 9 million and give us 1 million.
Seriously if we were to sell the airport to someone else for 5 million, we would get more money since we would not have to give a 9 million credit.
There' definitely needs to be a clarification of what MassPort is trying to deduct from the sale price. For example, Federal grants used to improve the airport in my opinion are capital improvements to an asset, not a liability or expense incurred by MassPort.
I can understand MassPort wanting to deduct their contributions to the debt service, but I don't think they should be allowed to deduct monies/grant given to improve capital assets.
I apologize in advance if I've misinterpreted to news items I've read concerning the grant money Jon
I don't think they are deducting Federal or State Grants given to ORH. They are only deducting monies that they had contributed to the operating deficit since 1999. Over the past ten years it has to be at least 9 million.
Frankly, if this is what Massport wants to do, then I say close the place up unless we can sell it to a 3rd party at arms length.
Is this all that Murray can do for us down on Beacon Hill? Gimme a break!!!!
Does any one wish that Rushton & Germaine would just ST+U????. They remind me of Abbott & Costello.
