Hi all, just got back from a long deserved vacation in South Beach and the Bahamas and Key West. First vacation in almost 10 years. Flew into and out of Miami International Airport ...what a mismanaged dump that place was...anyone flying to Southern Florida do yourselves a favor and fly into Fort Lauderdale or West Palm Beach instead. While driving back into Worcester saw 2 more business fold up tent:

Zoots on Grafton Street
Hollywood Video onn Grafton Street

The bleeding has to stop...

FYI...New Haven is run by Avports which is owned by Macquarie Infrastructure Group of Australia.

The City of Worcester's long term interests would be much better served with this profit-minded group (Macquarie) than Massport whose grand plans for NE air transport more or less exclude ORH.

Wendys On Grafton St also closed.........but it was in the Dec. '06.........I think....but that other regional(?)chain/franchise sub sandwich immediately opened up.... so I guess that a wash?..........

Scarey when you see the franchise/chain places start taking hits in Worc...reminds me of CVS, McD's, & Burger Kink on main street......that all went bye bye, too. When did thise places close up....early 90's??

Also I was thinking the other day as I drove out Millbury.........when Will the demo for Wally World begin along side the new 146 roadway......at old Amer Steel & Wire site?.................betcha Walmart is also feeling this downturn in the Economy.......is it poss that even walmart plans for Worc have been City Sq'ed for the time being?

Meanwhile back at the ranch.........the non profits continue to proliferate........did anyone catch Mr Obrien on WTAG thgis morning....I tuned in late...........but i think he was saying the PIP shelter solution is to put these so called clients into "housing"...meaning more 1/2 way houses.........and you know they arent going to be in Shrewsbury or Holden or West boylston..................now was it necessary to assemble a blue ribbon committee with the Likes of Levy, Mulford, and others to come up with this solution................this way the councillors can hide behind this action plan when the 1/2 way houses strart opening up again..........but hey at least we didnt have to pay for this "study"........will these 11 people ever tackle any real issues.........are mammaries on the council agenda agian tonight?.......

I should mention that Avports is going to be sold by Macquarie soon, but that doesnt affect my comment.
