I wasn't at today's Business Expo at the DCU center but what struck me when I saw the floor map for the participants, no Berkley Investments booth. To borrow a favorite saying of Jahn…WTF? They should have had a prominent location on the floor networking with anyone and everyone.
Although I still believe the project will move forward (call me an eternal optimist), I must admit I’m a little concerned about the lack of an announcement that the deal with UNUM is signed.
Citysquare is happening. I know it's hard to believe with all the broken promises and timelines that have come and gone. But it's different with Unum. For the first time a major tenant has signed a letter of intent. This is a big deal and lends credibility to citysquare actually happening. This prediction that citysquare is happening actually has some facts to support it this time. I understand that Unum and Berkely would encounter some delays working out the final agreement. These are not like the past citysquare delays when there wasn't even a major tenant in discussions. In fact, Unum told their employees 2 weeks ago that the they are still moving to citysquare and while there was a delay with the lease, they expect it to be finalized shortly. They did not give a timeframe though.
